Coining is a closed die forging process, in which pressure is applied on the surface of the forging in order to obtain closer tolerances, smoother surfaces and eliminate draft. The coining process allows for a finer and detailed surface finish and accurate bends. It also hardens the surface of the material so that it becomes resistant against impact and abrasion.
